Roast Beetroot and Sweet Kumara Soup

June 17, 2015

As women I think we say sorry too much. Unless of course you are my friend Sophie M.

Someone steps in your way, you say sorry. When we ask for something we say sorry. You gently bump someone else crammed up next to you with your elbow when blow drying your hair at the gym, it wouldn’t have hurt but yet we say sorry. When we tell guys who don’t treat us well that they are dicks and that you are over wasting your time with them we then apologise afterwards. Sorry for having standards, sorry for wanting to speak up, sorry for the way I look.

WHY?!

Raw Energy Salad

June 15, 2015

I am not a very superstitious person. I am always the first to open umbrellas inside or to bring bananas onto a boat. There is one thing I am somewhat inclined to believe in though and that's Karma. You get from the Universe what you put out into the Universe. Good things happen to good people and the like. Pay it forward etc etc. I would say I believe this 90% of the time.

This morning was that futile 10% where I just didn't know what to believe anymore.

Broccoli and Blue Cheese Soup

June 14, 2015

Some broccoli soup came up on my Instagram feed the other day and the vibrant bowl of green caught my eye. I just had to have some. Conveniently the Universe agreed and made all the greens required super cheap at my local vege shop

A Cold Brew For You

June 5, 2015

During my days as a student in the darkest depths of Dunedin, I came to know a rather cool collection of people pursuing all manner of paths. I came to become friends with a gentleman called Arjun who had a bit of a thing for coffee. He started making this delectable liqueur called Quick Brown Fox. Things have progressed and he now has a finger dipped in the oh so trendy cold brew scene with his Harpoon Cold Brew.

I recently got a message from Arjun asking if I would be interested in concocting a variety of bevvies using his Harpoon cold brew. Of course I said yes (I was up for anything after being stuck with the dregs that come out of the machine at work).

Savoury Cheese Scones

May 26, 2015

The following is a true account of the events of the weekend dated the 22nd to the 24th of May 2015.

I had an interesting weekend to say the least. My dishevelled appearance whilst brunching on Sunday morning in a trendy part of town really summarised my feelings in one hobo cardigan/frayed denim short combo. How did one come to be in such a state? Well...

Babaganoush Lamb Pitas

May 19, 2015

I did it. I quit. I am finally a free woman.

Today, without much hesitation or emotion I, Sophie Edmonds, deleted Tinder. Astounding I know. I am shocked at my lack of feeling over the whole ordeal.

Chipotle Beef Tacos

May 17, 2015

Those who know me will know I have a bit of a thing for tacos. Not those awful crunchy things but the lush and juicy soft shelled variety.  Give me a good taco and I will be harping on about it for weeks. My most memorable tacos both involve beef which is weird because I have a special soft spot for pulled pork especially when wrapped in soft tortilla bread.

Caramel Popcorn Cake

May 16, 2015

I found some good caramel popcorn on the cheap a while back. It had been sitting in my cupboard for a month or so and I really wanted to make use of it. Clear Sophie logic meant that the best way to use this popcorn would to be make an entire four layer cake to act as a serving platter for this meagre bag of popcorn. Seriously, that is what went through my head a few weeks ago.

Mother's Day Crumpets

May 9, 2015

So my Mum misses out on being showered in gifts this Mothers Day for the second year running. Last year she was having a terrible time in Bora Bora and this year she is dragging herself around South East Asia with Dad, doesn't that just suck for her?

Recipe number 40 is rather special. A week ago today Nana left this earth. To celebrate her life we all gathered in Matamata and of course there was afternoon tea. The Aunties and I all made something of hers. I was on cheesecakes. Welsh cheesecakes
Dylan and I made this @katherine_sabbath stunner yesterday to celebrate Chris’ birthday. Needless to say it went down an absolute treat 🍳🌽🍡
Apologies for the crap photos but I’d like to share the recipe for this family favourite. I’ve written about Dad’s favourite veggie casserole over on TheSupperClubKitchen.com under recipes worth sharing. It’s 90s nostalgia at
We’ve always seen making our own croissants as a pretty daunting task. I feel like there is a lot of mystique around their making that only trained experts can get their heads around. Since we had little else to do we (Dylan) decided to give ma
Proud as punch for actually completing
@bonappetitmag’s best ever bread recipe. It only took us three days but we’re here. Having this tonight with Ima’s chicken soup. Just call me Henny Penny.
Dylan put some words together about the long lunch we cooked ourselves last weekend. You can find it over on thesupperclubkitchen.com
