Roast Beetroot, Bluecheese and Candied Walnut Risotto

April 12, 2015

Morals are a bit of a pain. They get in the way of so many fun activities. Wouldn’t it be great if you could just take anything you wanted and not have to worry about others or the consequences involved? I know for one I would get really chubby if I just took a chest freezer from Noel Leeming followed by all the ice cream out of the freezer at the supermarket, I would probably end up in court too.

Golden Peach and Coconut Cake

March 24, 2015

Basically I think what I am trying to communicate here in this post is that your early twenties are hard. But not actually hard, but hard in a self-centred first world problems type of hard. So actually really easy and that we should actually shut the hell up for being so wingy because soon God forbid we might have children...

Mum's Carrot cake (aka the most reliable cake you will ever make)

March 6, 2015

You know those friends who can make your chest burst with joy just by hearing their voices? The friends who can almost make you weep when you think how wonderful they are? I am lucky enough to have a handful of such friends.

If I was to turn friendship into a cake, I think it would have to be this carrot cake. It is so reliable and works a treat every time.

White Chocolate and Strawberry Ice Cream

February 12, 2015

To the fella over there with the hella great hair....

In other news, that terrible and trashy day known as Valentines day is coming up. In celebration of being awesome by yourself, crushing hard on the unavailable and having friends who are amazing 93% of the time, make this ice cream. It's all white and red, pretty much a doily clad V-day card on a cone. It for sure tastes better than a card.

Vegan Steamed Buns

February 3, 2015

Mates before dates. Bros before hos. Chicks before dicks. We all know we should put our friends first before the flavour of the moment, so why are some of us (me) still so quick to forget the friends in favour of the latest daydream?

Roast Vegetable Frittata

February 1, 2015

I read somewhere that root vegetables are the kale of 2015. This news excites me greatly as I am the kumara's biggest fan.

Speaking of kale and all things healthy, I have been trying to nourish my body with more than just scrambled eggs three times a day. I love eggs, they are so cheap and such a great source of protein. The only problem is that while I love a good salad, my budget and enthusiasm gets in the way. I feel like the lack of colour may be a contributing factor so my dwindling afternoon energy levels (that or the 5 hours sleep I get might not help either).

The Best Chocolate Ice Cream You Will Ever Eat

January 30, 2015

It has come to my attention that the majority of pictures that I have posted to Instagram in recent weeks have been ice cream related. In the last 48 hours I have posted four times in a row about ice cream that I have consumed. My love for frozen dairy is going to cause my toes to fall off for sure if I am not careful.

Fillet 'O Fish - Bach style

January 6, 2015

My fishing abilities somewhat mirrored my own dating life. I hooked many a decent fish, keeping them on the line and reeling them in however was a totally different story..

Christmas Bakewell Slice

December 23, 2014

I thought if I waited much longer to post this recipe it would quickly become irrelevant - after all who eats Christmas fruit mince after Christmas? The answer is everyone should! Fruit mince goes super on special after Christmas! ALL the slice! ALL the time!

Christmas Doughnuts

December 14, 2014

You know Christmas is well and truly upon you when you find yourself weeping to the final scenes of Love Actually at the outdoor cinema in Silo Park. To celebrate (the season, not the weeping) I threw a Christmas party for my new colleagues this weekend (just a mere three weeks after starting). The menu was a little unconventional though.

Recipe number 40 is rather special. A week ago today Nana left this earth. To celebrate her life we all gathered in Matamata and of course there was afternoon tea. The Aunties and I all made something of hers. I was on cheesecakes. Welsh cheesecakes
Dylan and I made this @katherine_sabbath stunner yesterday to celebrate Chris’ birthday. Needless to say it went down an absolute treat 🍳🌽🍡

We’ve always seen making our own croissants as a pretty daunting task. I feel like there is a lot of mystique around their making that only trained experts can get their heads around. Since we had little else to do we (Dylan) decided to give ma

@bonappetitmag’s best ever bread recipe. It only took us three days but we’re here. Having this tonight with Ima’s chicken soup. Just call me Henny Penny.
